Dr Sandeep Puri to take over as DMCH principal today

HL: A noted medical specialist of the region, Dr Puri has been heading the Department of Medicine at the DMCH from March 2005.

Dr Sandeep Puri, vice-principal and former medical superintendent of the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), will take over as the principal of the institution tomorrow.

A noted medical specialist of the region, Dr Puri has been heading the Department of Medicine at the DMCH from March 2005. An enthusiast of cultural activities and youth affairs, he has also been associated with the cultural committee of the DMCH as its chairperson since February 1994.

A known administrator and a respected teacher, Dr Puri brings along nearly 10 years’ of experience as a member of the hospital administration committee and has served the institution well as a trouble-shooter also in several tough situations.

Dr Puri did his graduation (MBBS) in 1987 and post graduation (MD) in 1991 from the DMCH (Panjab University). He has been serving as examiner for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine for five universities.

A highly accomplished and recognised physician, Dr Puri has bagged many awards during his distinguished career. Among these are Fellowship of Indian Academy of Clinical Medicine (2005), Indian College of Physicians (2009), International Medical Science Academy and membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences.

He has been closely associated with organising several major events such as national conference, being principal investigator in quite a few clinical trials, supervising theses and research work of postgraduate students, publishing scientific papers in national and international journals and delivering lectures or chairing sessions in national and international conferences as well as workshops.
