Man kills mom, injures wife in Ramnagar

Udhampur, December 7

A man allegedly murdered his mother and injured his wife while she was trying to save her mother-in-law in remote village of Ramnagar tehsil in Udhampur district on Sunday.

According to the police, Ajeet Singh, son of Krishna Singh, of Raisan village in Ramnagar tehsil attacked his mother with a sharp-edged weapon at his residence on Sunday evening.

He inflicted multiple injuries on his mother that led to the death of 65-year-old Bashnoo Devi on the spot.

Ajeet Singh’s wife Santosh Kumari, who was present in the house, intervened to save the life of her mother-in-law, but she was also attacked by Ajeet Singh and got seriously injured. She received injuries in her right leg and right arm.

“Locals informed us telephonically about the incident. They shifted the injured to the sub-district hospital in Ramnagar. A police party from Ramnagar is already on the way and the accused will soon be arrested,” said Ramnagar SDPO Abhishek Sharma.

According to sources, Ajeet Singh around two years ago had once attacked his family members earlier too and even the police party that went to arrest him at that time was also not spared. He also injured a cop at that time.

The police had not yet arrested the accused till reports came in. The police claimed that Ajeet Singh was mentally unstable.
