Prominent Akali and BJP leaders were seen at the wedding of the daughter of former Congress Working Committee member Jagmeet Brar. She got married to a grandson of late Congress Chief Minister Darbara Singh here today.
Punjab Pradesh Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa, his brother Fatehjung Bajwa, Congress Legislature Party Leader Sunil Jakhar and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda were among the main invitees who blessed the couple.
Union Rural Development Minister Chowdhry Birender Singh, who along with Jagmeet Brar had criticised the working of the Congress high command following the party’s debacle in the Lok Sabha elections, was one of the chief guests.
While Birender joined the BJP and moved to the Rajya Sabha, Jagmeet is yet to announce his future plans.
Akali leader and Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia was also seen. He was accompanied by youth leaders of the party. People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Badal too attended the wedding.
Though marital alliance is a personal matter, the coming together of the two families is seen as an important event in the political circles.
