Six drug peddlers nabbed

The police have arrested six alleged drug peddlers and have seized 85 kg of poppy husk and 10 gm of heroin from their possession. The alleged drug peddlers were arrested during separate operations by the local police.

The accused have been identified as Rajvir Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Amit Kumar alias Johny, Bittu, Sukhwinder Singh alias Sherry and Rupinder Singh alias Toni, all residents of Jagraon.

Giving details, Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Mohamed Jamil informed that the drug peddlers were arrested during three separate operations by the city police during the past 24 hours. 

“A police team led by ASI Satpal Singh was patrolling on Dalla road when it saw three persons near the drain. On seeing the police party, the persons tried to flee. Following which the police team gave them a chase and nabbed them at some distance. When searched, the police recovered 75 kg of poppy husk from the bag they were carrying,” SHO Jamil said. 

Meanwhile, in a separate development, a police team led by ASI Joga Singh arrested Ramandeep Singh from Kamal Chowk area during routine checking. The police seized five gm of heroin from the accused. In the third incident, a police team led by ASI Kuldeep Singh arrested Amit Kumar and Sukhwinder Singh alias Sherry and seized five gm of heroin and 10 kg of poppy husk, respectively. 

Separate cases have been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act at the Jagraon city police station. Investigations are on.
