New Delhi, June 2

Allaying fears and concerns of students and parents, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today said the results of Class 12 examinations would be announced well in time for students to apply for their next courses.

CBSE secretary Anurag Tripathi also said that any decision regarding the evaluation of results would “be in the best interests of students”.

Board dispels fears

The results will be prepared keeping in mind all considerations.

“The process of completion of the criteria for evaluation may take two weeks. We are in the process of structuring the criteria. We will put it in public domain as soon as it is completed,” he said, requesting students not to panic or worry.

“The results will be prepared keeping in mind all considerations. Structuring the criteria for evaluation may take some time, however, it will be the best solution. Only in some rare condition will a student ask for a board exam,” he said.

Tripathi said exams had been cancelled keeping in view the safety of students and timely announcement of Class XII results.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, he said, was assessing the criteria for evaluation and marking. “Now we have got two months (to prepare the results). They should be announced around July-end or mid-August, well in time for students to apply in universities and institutions,” he said.

Issues of concern

  • Schools may inflate internal assessment
  • A student who hasn’t performed well in past loses scope of improving
  • There’s option of boards later, but by then much water would have flown under bridge
