Chandigarh, March 1

Taking on both incumbent AAP and state Congress leadership, Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar here today blamed leaders of both parties for colluding and conspiring against the farming community to orchestrate the protest with the aim to gain petty political mileage.

“Sons of our farmers are being killed and these so-called leaders of political parties are only interested in showing fake sympathies and want nothing, but political mileage from the protest,” Jakhar said, while interacting with the media after the BJP core committee meeting.

Referring to the uncalled-for disruption of the Governor’s Address by the Congress in the Vidhan Sabha, Jakhar said both were two sides of the same coin. “While Bhagwant Mann tried to distract people by holding yet another press conference on Sukhvilas, the Congress tried to hide its shortcomings by not letting the Governor complete his Address,” he said.

Mann had already said at least six times that he would act against Sukhbir Badal and this was yet another ‘hollow outburst’ in a bid to deflect questions on backstabbing farmers on all promises made to them, Jakhar said, adding that the Congress’ disruption of House today was part of its strategy and alliance with AAP as the Congress did not want to expose AAP’s failure in the House.

“It is unfortunate that the Governor had to remind the Leader of Opposition that the House was for debate and not disruption,” the veteran leader said while pointing out that the Congress had nothing to say on any issue.
