In many other wards as well, BJP candidates has given a tough fight to the NOTA. In ward number 3, BJP candidate Mahinder Kaur polled 39 votes, whereas NOTA got 27 votes.

In ward number 24, BJP candidate Raj polled 22 votes and NOTA got 17 votes. In ward number 40, BJP candidate Ravi Kumar got 22 votes and NOTA got 19 votes.

In ward number 21, BJP candidate Rinku Bala Gupta got 46 votes and NOTA got 29 votes.

BJP got less than 100 votes in 20 wards. Surprisingly, former deputy mayor and BJP candidate from ward number 1, Gurinderpal Kaur Mangat polled only 84 votes and she remained at distant fourth position.

In ward number 29 and 49, BJP candidates Kanchan Jindal and Shamma polled 660 and 633 votes, respectively.

BJP state media co-incharge Sunil Singla said, “I salute the party cadre who contested these polls bravely in gunda raj of the Congress. On the name of farmers’ agitation, Congress misguided farmers and staged protests outside the residences of BJP leaders in the state and even did not allow our candidates to campaign freely. To hide their poor working in the state, Congress misused the state machinery to win these polls”.

The BJP leader added, “We will sit and analyse these results and will redesign our strategy for the coming Punjab assembly polls.”
