NEW DELHI, Nov 18 — The Election Commission has turned down a request to allow Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal to use the official helicopter on payment basis for campaigning in the Assembly polls.

Yeltsin deputes Primakov for India visit
MOSCOW, Nov 18 — Russian President Boris Yeltsin today cancelled his scheduled visit to India next month and instead asked Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov to make the trip, an announcement from the Kremlin said.

CHANDIGARH, Nov 18 — The Khalsa Panth Tercentenary Celebrations Committee has urged Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Mr Gurcharan Singh Tohra to hold a meeting with the Jathedar of Akal Takht, Bhai Ranjit Singh, to persuade him to participate in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Khalsa Heritage Memorial Complex at Anandpur Sahib.
