6 devotees, 2 cops hurt on Meraj day
SRINAGAR, Nov 20 — Eight persons, including six devotees and two jawans, were injured when militants hurled a grenade near the outer wall of the Hazratbal shrine here this afternoon. The grenade, targeted at a vehicle of the BSF, exploded on the road between the outer wall of the shrine and a parked vehicle.

Hike in import duty on sugar
NEW DELHI, Nov 20 — Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has shot down the Food Ministry’s proposal to hike sugar import duty, saying any such move would be inflationary and not advisable.
"I have had the matter examined...It has not been found feasible to agree to the proposal for increasing customs duty on sugar as suggested in your letter," Mr Sinha said in a reply to the Food Minister.

BONN, Nov 20 — India and the USA today failed to achieve any breakthrough in narrowing down their differences on disarmament and nuclear non-proliferation with New Delhi asserting that there was no change in its stand on the CTBT issue.

WASHINGTON, Nov 20 — India may get about $ 3.5 billion in a new funding of $ 20.5 billion sanctioned by 39 donor countries for the International Development Association, the concessionary lending agency of the World Bank, for a period of three years, beginning from July 1, 1999.

Ad hoc bonus for Haryana staff
CHANDIGARH, Nov 20 — The Haryana Government has decided to grant ad hoc bonus equivalent to 30 day's emoluments to its employees for the year 1996-97, computed on the basis of actual emoluments up to Rs 4000 per month as on March 31, 1997.
