Church damaged
GUWAHATI, Feb 7 (UNI) — A church was damaged by Adivasis in Gosaigaon subdivision of Assam's Kokrajhar district on Friday last, a delayed report received here today said. Kokrajhar District Magistrate J.I. Kathar said that the Santhal miscreants reportedly burnt and destroyed the church on Friday night in which one of the inmates was injured. The church is located in the Bodo-dominated Sapakhata village in the subdivision.

3 Naxals surrender
WARANGAL, Feb 7 (UNI) — Three hardcore underground Naxalites of the banned People's War Group (PWG) surrendered before Andhra Pradesh Home Minister A. Madhav Reddy here today. The surrendered extremists included Dalam Commander Mandabuchi Reddy and his wife K. Rama Devi, alias Swaroopa. Buchi Reddy was involved in a number of cases including the killing of a junior college principal and a villager at Jangaon in Warangal district and planting of landmines.

Computer training
GORAKHPUR, Feb 7 (UNI) — The Uttar Pradesh Government will shortly provide computer training to inmates of all the 67 jails in the state. The first such course will begin in Lucknow jail in the last week of this month which would help the prisoners in getting jobs after their release, Uttar Pradesh Jail Minister Shiv Pratap Shukla said here.

Tripura bandh
AGARTALA, Feb 7 (PTI) — Security was tightened in Tripura in view of tomorrow's 12-hour bandh, called by the Congress and the Tripura Upajati Yuba Samity in protest against Tuesday's violence at Kanchanmala village where five more huts were torched last night, the police said. The ruling Left Front also called a simultaneous bandh tomorrow alleging that the Centre was not cooperating with the state to check militant activities. The Congress has accused the Left Front of "total failure" in curbing militancy.

11 killed in accident
ISLAMABAD, Feb 7 (AFP) — At least 11 persons were killed and 40 injured when a crowded passenger bus collided with a van today in Pakistan's Punjab province, the police said. The bus was on its way to Lahore from Narowal, and the van was headed for the city of Gujranwala from Lahore, they said.
