XII CBSE results on e-mail
NEW DELHI, March 4 Schools having e-mail facility
can access results of the Classes X and XII examinations
conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education.
According to sources, the results of the examinations
will be announced in May end. This year, nearly 2,63,800
students and 4,49,850 students are appearing in the
Classes XII and X examinations, respectively. While the
Class XII examinations started on Thursday, the Class X
examinations will begin on Friday. An order issued by the
Police Commissioner here prohibited carrying of arms and
other dangerous objects within 200 metres of any centre,
processions and slogan-shouting, placards and banners
near examination centres and photo-copiers in front of
centres. Other precautionary measures include ban on the
use of mobile phones and calculators in the centres and
deployment of police force in front of examination

officers threaten stir
NEW DELHI,
March 4 (PTI) The National Confederation of
Officers Association (NCOA) of Central public sector
undertakings (PSUs) has called for a week-long agitation
culminating in a one-day strike demanding immediate
implementation of the Justice Mohan Committee
recommendation on wage revision. The nationwide agitation
will include protest rallies in state capitals,
representations to governors and lunch boycotts,
confederation President K. Ashok Rao said today
9 LTTE men shot
COLOMBO,
March 4 (UNI) Sri Lankan troops killed nine LTTE
rebels and recovered a large quantity of arms and
ammunition in sporadic clashes in which an unspecified
number of rebels were also injured, Defence Ministry
sources said. The dead include three female cadres of the
LTTE. Troops on patrol confronted a group of rebels in
the Wanni area and killed three of them. In the Jaffna
area, the troops killed four rebels.
Staff on mass
leave
GANDHINAGAR,
March 4 (PTI) Class two, three and four employees
of the Gujarat government today went on mass casual leave
to press their demands, including higher wages. The mass
casual leave was part of an agitation to press their
long-pending demands, according to Mr Nandu Patel,
General Secretary of the Sachivalaya Employees
Association.
Pak leader killed
MULTAN, March
4 (AFP) Gunmen have murdered a ruling party
legislator at his home in the central Pakistani province
of Punjab, the police said today. Two young men posing as
guests entered the home of Ghulam Mohammad Sawaq in the
town of Leiah, 160 km east of here, last night, and
opened fire soon after he came to see them. Sawaq, a
member of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs Pakistan
Muslim League (PML) and a deputy in the Punjab Provincial
Assembly, died in hospital.
Karnataka meeting
BANGALORE,
March 4 (PTI) Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve
Gowda today expressed his inability to attend the meeting
of MPs from Karnataka, convened by Chief Minister J.H.
Patel in New Delhi tomorrow. In a letter to Patel, Gowda,
who represents the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency in the
state, regretted his inability to attend the meeting due
to his preoccupation.
