Tornado kills 13
BEIJING, May 16 (PTI) — At least 13 persons were killed and 51 injured when a tornado hit South China's Guangdong province which also destroyed 178 houses yesterday, an official report said here today. The whirlwind struck Qinge village of Suixi county yesterday afternoon, Xinhua news agency reported.

4 killed in blast
MOSCOW, May 16 (AFP) — Four persons were killed and nine injured when three explosions rocked a military town in southern Russia, officials said today. The blasts occurred at 8 a.m. (IST) in Sputnik, a military town near Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia's volatile north Ossetia region in the Northern Caucasus, Interior Ministry official Kazbek Zantiyev told NTV Television. Terrorism had not been ruled out, he said.

Strong quake
HONG KONG, May 16 (AP) — An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 7.0 struck off the coast of Papua New Guinea early today, the Hong Kong Observatory said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The quake was centred near the island of New Britain, about 780 km northeast of Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, the observatory reported.

Derailment
RATLAM, May 16 (UNI) — Rail traffic was disrupted due to derailment of a few bogies of a goods train on the metre gauge line of Ratlam-Neemuch section in Madhya Pradesh last month. Official sources said no casualty was reported. Khandwa-Ajmer, Mhow-Chittorgarh and Meenakshi Express trains running on the metre gauge line were delayed due to the accident.Top
