Arrest warrants against Bihar minister

PATNA, May 6 (PTI) — A special vigilance court today issued non-bailable arrest warrants against senior Bihar minister Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav and 41 others, including Commissioner of Magadh division Chintu Nayak, in connection with the alleged B.Ed degree racket.

Mr Yadav allegedly issued more than 500 fake degrees between 1987 and 1992 when he was the state Education Minister.

Special Judge S.P.Rai issued the warrants on the prayer of the State Vigilance Investigation Bureau.

The bureau had on Wednesday instituted an FIR against Mr Yadav, who held the Education Department portfolio between 1995-1999 and others and had subsequently moved the special court for issuance of the arrest warrants.

Meanwhile, Mr Jai Prakash Narain Yadav tonight resigned from the Rabri Devi government in the wake of issuance of non-bailable warrants against him.Back
