Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Punjab: Bathinda 2 and Faridkot 1, East Uttar Pradesh: Varanasi city 1 and West Uttar Pradesh: Agra 3 and Mainpuri 1.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Maximum temperatures fell in Haryana, East Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were appreciably above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh, above normal in East Rajasthan and East Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 42.0C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere.

Departures: They were appreciably above normal in Haryana, above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 21.4C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of October 3: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh and at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places in Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places in Haryana, Punjab and East Rajasthan. Weather will be mainly dry in West Rajasthan.
