Rainfall: Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in east Uttar Pradesh, at a few places in east Rajasthan and at isolated places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of rainfall in cm are: Haryana: New Delhi (Palam) 3 and Chirag Delhi 2, Himachal Pradesh: Kumarsain 2 and Jubbal and Sundernagar 1 each, Jammu and Kashmir: Pahalgam 2, East Rajasthan: Ajmer 1, East Uttar Pradesh: Ballia 14, Turtipar 11, Jaunpur and Varanasi A.P. 9 each, Kakrahi 8, Balrampur and Ghazipur 5 each, Chhatnag, Mirzapur and Sultanpur 4 each, Allahabad, Bansi, Elginbridge and Lucknow 2 each and Bani, Birdghat, Chandradeepghat, Dalmau, Lucknow Control Room, Mukhlispur and Raebareily 1 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours chnge: Maximum temperatures fell appreciably in Jammu and Kashmir and east Uttar Pradesh, rose in Haryana, west Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were markedly below normal in east Uttar Pradesh, below normal in west uttar Pradesh, appreciably above norml in west Rajasthan, above normal in Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 40.8C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures fell appreciably in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, fell in Haryana and changed little elsewhere. Departures: They were appreciably above normal in Haryana and west Rajasthan, above normal in east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. the lowest temperature in the plains was 19C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of October 7: Rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Weather will be mainly dry in therest of the region.

Heavy rainfall warning: Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of October 7: Mainly clear sky with possibility of thundery development in some areas. Not much change in maximum and minimum temperatures.
