Interim bail for Faridabad legislator Ambala, November 3 The Special Judge for CBI cases in Haryana, Dr B.B. Prasoon, granted interim bail to Mr Bhatia till November 11. The Arguments on the bail application wee heard today. Mr Bhatia’s counsel, Mr Devendra Bansal, pleaded that the Faridabad MLA was not well and was undergoing treatment at the Escorts Hospital. Last month, Mr Bhatia had filed an application in the court of the Special Magistrate for CBI cases in Haryana, Mr J.S. Dhanjal seeking referral to the Escorts Hospital and Research Centre in Faridabad for treatment. Mr Bhatia had earlier surrendered before the Special Magistrate on October 4. The application filed by him said the accused applicant is suffering from acute kidney problem and because of improper functioning of kidney, the body system of the accused has been badly affected.” Since there is no proper medical aid and treatment in the Central Jail, Ambala for kidney patients the accused applicant is struggling for his life because of severe pain in kidney, since October 4, the application said. Ms Mamta Arora from a Faridabad based daily had lodged a complaint that Mr Chander Bhatia and few others had entered her office and looted goods. The case was handed over to the CBI for investigations on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 1998. The CBI had filed the charge-sheet against Mr Bhatia and others on March 24 this year. |
Replacement of power meters prevented Rohtak, November 3 Hundreds of residents of the locality gathered on the scene as soon as the employees of UHBVN and the contractor reached the colony for replacing the meters. They raised slogans against the government for replacing the power meters without any specific reason and also charged the power employees harassing them in the name of government directions. When contacted, Mr M.P. Tyagi, Superintending Engineer, UHBVN refused to comment on the issue. An Executive Engieer however, said the officebearers of the Sudhar Samiti have asked for a few days to convince the residents about the replacement drive. |

13 granted bail in Hindu Garden case Ambala, November 3 The 13 persons had been arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in an attempt to evict a person who has been residing at Hindu Garden near Topekhana Bazar, Ambala cantonment. The bail application moved by the 13 persons said “the accused applicants have been falsely implicated in the case by the police. The accused never caused any injury to the complainant. In fact, the complainant and his family members and others caused grievous injuries to five of the applicants-accused who were medically examined and two of them remained admitted for 5-6 days.” The application states “the allegations in the FIR are false and frivolous. No alleged offence has been committed by the applicants. The present FIR is a counter to the criminal case pending against the complainant and his family members. No recovery is to be affected from the applicants.” The complainant, Mr Subedar, has stated that in the vicinity of Tope Khana Bazar, Ambala cantonment there is a place measuring about 1.41 acre named as Hindu Garden, which was given by the Central Government in 1937 to 6 person on a lease hold basis. “We are maintaining Hindu Garden by growing vegetables, flowers and residing therein. Before me in the Hindu Garden, my maternal uncle Ram Charan alias Kaka Shah was living with family and after their death me and my brother Jayanti Parshad are living in the Garden for the past 25 years,” the application states. He has alleged that on May 22, 13 persons had gone to his residence at Hindu Garden to forcibly evict him. He claimed that his son was injured in the incident. |
Jawan cremated with state honours Faridabad, November 3 Gopal Singh, who was married six months ago, is survived by his widow and parents. His body reached the village this morning. Mr Kartar Bhadana, Cooperation Minster, Mr Rajender Beesla, MLA from Ballabhgarh, Mr Karan Singh Dalal, a former minister and MLA from Palwal, Mrs Sharda Rathore, state Congress secretary, and the Deputy Commissioner were among who laid wreaths and paid tributes to the martyr. This is the second casualty from the district in less than a month. Meanwhile, Mr Karan Singh Dalal has demanded the restart of ex gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh to kin of the jawans of the Army and paramilitary forces, who had died fighting the terrorists. Talking to The Tribune here today, after attending the cremation of Sepoy Gopal Singh Bhati, Mr Dalal described the decision of the withdrawal of the ex gratia payment to kin of ‘martyrs’ as unfair and unjust. |
Sadhu killed in mishap Rohtak, November 3 While the sadhu could not be identified, the injured — Suneel and Bijender — hailing from Balambah village of the district, were admitted to a hospital. According to reports, the mishap occurred when a tractor-trailer, which was hit by a truck, knocked down the victims, who were standing on the roadside at the Bhiwani chowk.
