Charges dropped against Sikh
New York, November 4
The US prosecution has dropped misdemeanour charges against a Sikh for carrying “kirpan”, accepting it as a religious symbol, and returned it to him. Sher J. B. Singh was arrested on September 12, a day after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, when law enforcement officials stormed an Amtrak train searching for accomplices of the hijackers. 6 infants die in KGMC
Lucknow, November 4
Six infants, aged between one day and three days, died in King George's Medical College (KGMC) here in the past 24-hours due to shortage of oxygen cylinders, their parents alleged today. Health officials at the neo-natal unit of the Paediatrics Department of KGMC from where the deaths were reported described the cause as “sudden death” in the official record. PTI

14 cops suspended
Patna, November 4
Altogether 14 policemen were suspended after a number of firearms along with cartridges went missing from the Bihar Military Police’s Muzaffarpur armoury recently, sources said today. UNI

Transfers banned
Patna, November 4
The EC banned the transfer and posting of officers connected with revision of electoral rolls for Graduate and Teachers constituencies of the Bihar Legislative Council, official sources said today. PTI
