The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has slammed the Punjab Chief Minister, Mr Parkash Singh Badal, for turning down the request of the board of management of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for a CBI probe into the multi-crore land scandal in which the university lost over four acres of prime land near Kitchlu Nagar to an industrialist of the city.

The murder case of Avtar Singh, Golla, involving former CIA in charge, Ludhiana Inspector, Gurmeet Singh ‘Pinki’, as prime accused along with eight others, has been transferred from Ludhiana to the court of District and Sessions Judge, Chandigarh, by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh Public High School, Machhiwara, got the first position in the inter-school quiz contest organised by C.S. Monu Memorial Welfare Society. Shree Guru Ram Rai Public School and Chopra Public Senior Secondary School secured the second and third positions, respectively. As many as nine local schools participated in the contest.
