Palwal SDM may be shifted Chandigarh, November 15 The suspension of Mr Icchopujani was necessitated by a provision in the Service Rules, which makes such action mandatory in the case of a government servant who has spent 48 hours in police custody. However, since Mr Paweria has not been arrested by the CBI, the state government has decided to transfer him from the posts he is holding at present. The government is reportedly considering removing Mr Paweria, who is also doubling up as MD of the sugar mill at Palwal, from both posts and giving him some other work involving less public dealing. “The transfer order was held up because of Divali. Now again the Chief Minister as well as the Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister (PSCM) are away to Delhi to attend various programmes, including the Inter-State Council meeting on Friday. So the order may be issued next week only, official sources said. Incidentally, Mr Devinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Karnal, whose house, too, was raided by the CBI on the night of November 2 in connection with the same case, has apparently managed to get temporary reprieve from the government. Mr Devinder Singh reportedly wrote to the Chief Secretary as well as the PSCM explaining his position regarding the allegations against him. The Chief Secretary and the PSCM were reportedly satisfied with his explanation and felt that it would not be appropriate to take any action against the Deputy Commissioner at this juncture. Mr Devinder Singh, after the CBI raid, addressed a press conference to tell the media that he was innocent. This aggressive stance of the former student of IIM, Ahmedabad, too, has reportedly worked in his favour. A report by the CBI , sent to the state government here in connection with the raid on Mr Devinder Singh’s place, has been reportedly found inadequate by the government to form any basis for taking action against the IAS officer. In the report, there was no seizure list relating to the raid on Mr Devinder Singh’s place. It only mentioned that some “incriminating” material and excess bottles of liquor were found in his house, a source said. |
