Hooch claims 36 lives
Cuddalore, November 30
At least 36 persons, including three women, died, and 197 were hospitalised after they consumed illicit liquor at several villages in and around Panruti in this district of Tamil Nadu, last night. Cuddalore district headquarters hospital Joint Director Dr G. Sivagami said while 22 persons died at the hospital, five others, who had initially taken treatment outside, were brought dead. UNI

Rocket launchers
Shillong, November 30
Custom officials have seized 26 rocket launchers from a night super bus coming from Aizawl, department sources said today. The officials raided the bus and seized the rocket launchers which were wrapped in Myanmarese language newspapers on Wednesday night. The police suspect that the rocket launchers were being routed from Bangladesh via Mizoram and were meant for the outlawed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council in Meghalaya. PTI

LJP leader shot
Samastipur, November 30
Criminals shot dead a senior leader of the Lok Janashakti Party and village mukhiya at the stadium market in this district today. The police said the car-borne criminals sprayed bullets on the Mukhiya, Dinesh Thakur, killing him on the spot. Personal enmity is believed to be the reason behind the killing. UNI
