Cop on duty shot dead

A police personnel on patrol was shot dead last night by an unidentified person in the Satnam Nagar area of Mandi Gobindgarh town in the district. The assailant escaped after the incident.
Smoking banned in court complex

Patiala District and Sessions Judge S.N. Aggarwal today banned smoking in the local court complex with immediate effect.
Mr Aggarwal, while issuing these orders, also wrote to Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh Bir and District police chief Paramjit Singh Grewal to ban smoking in public places all over the district.
