The Punjab Government’s
decision to give free power to tubewells in the state suffered a
setback today after a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High
Court directed the Punjab State Electricity Board to manage its
affairs in view of Section 59 of the Electricity (Supply) Act
specifying a 3 per cent rate of return.

A joint search operation by the
Army, Himachal and Punjab Police is on in the Bhadroah forest, near
Damtal, to track down two armed terrorists spotted near the Army
firing range in Nurpur area yesterday. The Army has cordoned off the
entire area and launched a search operation along with the police
force from Himachal and Punjab.
