Ex-sweeper behind MTNL burglary

The Delhi Police today claimed to have solved the sensational Rs 60-lakh burglary at the Laxmi Nagar exchange of the MTNL with the arrest of two persons, including a former employee of the telecom organisation. A sum of Rs 11.10 lakh was also seized from them.

Install speed governors in DTC buses in 30 days: HC
New Delhi, December 10
The Delhi High Court today asked the Delhi Government to ensure that speed control devices are fitted in DTC buses in a month’s time. The orders for at least 100 such devices should be placed by Wednesday, the court ordered.

3 members of inter-state gang held

The South district police today claimed to have solved several cases of dacoity, murders, attempt to murder and robberies in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, following the arrest of three persons belonging to an inter-state gang in a dramatic encounter last night near Batra Hospital. They were allegedly planning to loot a petrol station at M B Road.

Three unidentified men reportedly attacked an old man at his house in Janakpuri today and ran away with Rs 14,000 in cash and gold jewellery, including six rings, one pair of earrings, two bangles and a chain.

Lack of funds, material and teaching staff has landed primary education in a mess in the district. Though the emoluments of school teachers have gone up considerably, little has been done to improve the facilities for school-going children in Government schools.
