Chhota Shakeel men shot dead
Mumbai, December 11
Two gangsters owing allegiance to underworld don Chhota Shakeel were gunned down in an encounter with the police at Marve here today. Acting on a tip-off that Mohammed Farrooque and Mohammed Abdul Inamdar would be arriving in the area to eliminate a prominent person, the police laid a trap in the vicinity. On spotting the gangsters alighting from a car, police personnel demanded that they surrendered. However, the duo whipped out their firearms and opened indiscriminate firing at the officers, the police said here. The police, sensing imminent danger, opened fire in self-defence from their service weapon, seriously wounding the two gangsters. The driver of the car immediately escaped along with another unidentified person who opened fire while fleeing. The injured gangsters were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead before admission. PTI
