“Lt-Gen A.A. Niazi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, of the then Eastern Command of the Pakistan army, was never arrested. He had surrendered after I had sent him a note: ‘My dear Abdullah, I am here. The game is up. I suggest you give yourself up to me. I will look after you,” recalls Maj-Gen Gandharav Singh Nagra (retd), the man who was commanding the composite Indian forces and was the first Indian officer to enter Dhaka on December 17.

Two cars, scooter stolen
Chandigarh, December 17
In his complaint to the police, Mr Amandeep Singh of Sector 21 stated that his Maruti car, parked in front of his residence, was stolen on the night of December 15. According to police sources, a case of theft under Section 379 of the IPC was registered and further investigations into the matter were on.

Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Chandigarh, got second position while MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36, and GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sudhar, secured third and fourth positions, respectively.
