No point in attacking Pak camps: George

New Delhi, December 21
Defence Minister George Fernandes today said the Indian Army was fully prepared to face any Pakistani attack and was taking full precautions on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and the international border.

As far as Kashmir is concerned, the Army is ready to face any eventuality. The recent killing of 15 Pakistani soldiers in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir was an indication of the readiness of the Indian Army to face any misadventure, Mr Fernandes told All-India Radio (AIR).

The Defence Minister said in the Akhnoor sector the Army had given a befitting reply to the Pakistani attack.

Mr Fernandes said there was no point in attacking Pakistanís terrorist training camps as they had been moved to the interior of the country from the Line of Control. UNI

Heavy firing exchanged

Jammu, December 21
Indian and Pakistani troops traded fire at various border outposts in Jammu and Kathua districts overnight, official sources said today.

The sources said the two sides exchanged heavy firing at Pindi Post, Pital Post, Mehta Post, Jabowal, Kote Kuba, Zero Point, Old Kanachak, New Kanachak, Khurd, Nawa Pind, Pargwal, Gole Pattan, Chinor Farm, Suchetgarh Post, Patwal, Panjour, S. H. Way, Sangral, Mangral, Abdullian, Korotana, Beli Azmat, Kathmarian, Gharana, Joura Farm, Kullian, Garakhal, Budhwar, Gharani, Nanga, Golar, Faqira Chak, Chamblyal, Narayanpur, S.M. Pura and Kandral in Jammu district.

Firing between the two sides was also reported from Chachwal, Chalarian, Mangu Chak, Sadhey Chak, Durma Chak and Khawara in Kathua district, the sources added. UNI
