STD rates slashed by over 60 pc

New Delhi, December 28
In another bonanza for telecom users, the government today announced slashing of long-distance rates by more than 60 per cent, a move that will result in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd losing about Rs 3,000 crore in six months. Announcing the new rates, Communication Minister Pramod Mahajan said the revised tariffs would be effective from January 14 next year.

War on terror to be decisive: Advani

Asserting that Pakistani terrorists had crossed the “Laxman rekha” by attacking the Parliament House, Home Minister L.K. Advani today said the war against terrorism waged by India would be decisive irrespective of whether the international community joined it or not.

Despite the diplomatic offensive in stopping overflights by Pakistan from the new year, India will permit Gen Pervez Musharraf overflight facilities to attend the January 4-6 SAARC summit in Kathmandu.

‘Mullah Omar hiding in PoK’

World’s most-wanted terrorist Osama bin Laden and Taliban supreme commander Mullah Omar are hiding in Bajoaur agency of Federally Administered Tribal Area in Pakistan and Gilgit in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, respectively, intelligence sources said today.
