Korean ship 
Madurai, December 28 
A Korean ship, which hit a country boat with five fishermen on board on December 20, has been detained by Tuticorin district officials. The ship was due to leave the port yesterday itself but had been detained till today, the officials said. PTI

Pact reached on Afghan force
Kabul, December 28
Afghanistan reached agreement with a British General today on the terms of deployment for a long-awaited international security force, Interim Defence Minister Mohammad Fahim said. “The agreement which took place today with the Commander of the peacekeeping force is as follows: they will begin their work in Kabul and will be based near the Kabul airport, in Puli Charkhi (a suburb to the east) and 200-300 (troops) in a location in the city centre,” Mr Fahim said

Bill okayed
New Delhi, December 28 
President K.R. Narayanan has given assent to the Bill passed by the Karnataka Assembly to combat organised crime, a Home Ministry spokesman said today. PTI

PTV banned
Meerut, December 28 
The district authorities have banned the telecast of Pakistan TV (PTV) channel through cable operators here till January 25, 2002, to check anti-national propaganda. PTI
