18 jawans killed in accidental blast
Jaisalmer, December 29
Eighteen Army jawans were killed in a blast during training exercises on the Indo-Pakistan border, official reports reaching the district headquarters said here today. The reports said the mishap occurred yesterday on the border between Longewal and Sadewala, killing the jawans on the spot. PTI

Cong MLA shot
Hyderabad, December 29
Andhra Pradesh Congress MLA Ragya Naik was shot dead by suspected Naxalites at Maddimadugu village in Mahaboobnagar district this afternoon, the police said. Mr Naik, who represented the Deverakonda constituency in Nalgonda, was visiting a temple when four persons snatched a weapon from his security officer and opened fire at him, killing him on the spot.
