No proof of Pak action against terrorists
New Delhi, December 30
The major Opposition parties while coming out in full support of the measures taken by the Government against Pakistan following the December 13 terrorist strike on Parliament today suggested that the External Affairs Minister, Mr Jaswant Singh should meet his Pakistani counterpart Abdul Sattar on the sidelines of the SAARC summit at Kathmandu.

Mr George W. Bush has urged Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on phone to take “additional strong and decisive measures” against “extremists” blamed for violence against India.

Advani seeks firm assurance
New delhi, December 30
Describing Islamabad’s steps against terrorist outfits as “a joke”, Home Minister L.K. Advani said today Pakistan could even now give “firm assurance” to the world community and India that it would stop aiding and abetting terrorism in order to prevent New Delhi from taking any measure at the non-diplomatic level.

Musharraf approves war strategy

Anti-aircraft guns have been deployed on all key installations, F-16 fighter aircraft are taking up positions and the leave of doctors and paramedical staff has been suspended under a defence strategy approved by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in the event of a war with India.

N-scientists’ accounts sealed

The Pakistan’s government has frozen the accounts of two nuclear scientists suspected of links with Osama bin Laden, a central bank spokesman said today.

Four members of a family belonging to a particular community, including a woman, were killed when militants dragged them out of their houses and opened fire on them at Kanthol village in Rajouri district late last night.

Cold wave sweeps region
Chandigarh, December 30
The entire north-west plains from Ganganagar in Rajasthan to Pathankot in Punjab today remained enveloped in fog which led to delay in the road, rail and air traffic in the region. The prevailing cold wave with dense fog during morning and night would continue for the next two days, the weather office here said.
