Delhi gets law to deal with organised crime

The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), a legal instrument to control the activities of syndicates and underworld operatives, would come into effect in Delhi from Thursday. 

Constable’s son behind nine-yr-old’s abduction, murder

With the arrest of three persons, including the cousin of the victim and a son of a serving Delhi Police Head Constable, the North-West police today claimed to have solved the sensational kidnapping and murder case of Milan Mittal (9). 

Customs Officer’s house looted in Sonepat 
Sonepat, January 9
At least six unidentified armed bandits forced their way into the residence of Mr Mohinder Singh, a Custom Officer in Sector 14, a residential colony of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) here last night, and escaped with about Rs 1.50 lakh, 31 tolas of gold ornaments and other valuables, besides the service revolver of the officer.

Criminal shot, Chinese arm, maps seized

A revolver of Chinese origin and some dubious documents have been recovered from a criminal, killed in an encounter with Muradnagar police last night. The documents are being linked to an intelligence agency of a foreign country by the police.

Stadium to come up at Sohna

The Haryana Government has decided to build a stadium at Sohna, named after former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal. Sohna is a block headquarter; it is also a tourist spot.
