Cheats using cell phones to good effect

Faridabad, April 5
While the introduction of mobile phone service has revolutionised the communication world, it has also proved handy for the anti-social elements. Several smart alecs took the help of cell phones in the board examinations of Haryana due to be concluded tomorrow. The friends of the students appearing in the exams, used mobile phones to inform them about the arrival and departure of flying squads and men of special task force at the examination centres. In another case of misuse of the cell phone, The railway police here have arrested some gangsters who used to steal goods from the parcel van of the express trains in the district. The gang stole items worth several lakhs in the past couple of years. The gangsters had been using mobile phones to contact one another and the leader of the gang was stationed in Delhi. They used to steal packets of consumer durables from trains near Ballabgarh and Palwal and would sell them in the market later. Four persons including the kingpin of the gang was arrested recently after they tried to commit another theft on March 9. TNS
