Easy wins for Tony Mahajan XI, Lokesh Khanna XI

Tony Mahajan XI and Lokesh Khanna XI registered convincing victories in the first Samrat Coolers Cricket Tournament for boys (u-17) being organised by the Ludhiana District Cricket Association, which began at the Arya College for Boys ground here today. Tony Mahajan XI defeated Chaman Lal XI by 6 wickets, while Lokesh Khanna XI demolished Satish Mangal XI by 9 wickets.

In the inaugural match, Tony Mahajan XI won the toss and asked Chaman Lal XI to bat. In the allotted 25 overs, Tony Mahajan XI made 127 losing nine wickets. The main scorers were Pankaj and Puneet Garg who contributed 37 and 31 runs, respectively. For Tony Mahajan XI, Jashanpreet took three wickets while Mohit scalped two victims.

Arjun Puri (48 n.o.) and Parveen 28 helped Tony Mahajan XI to achieve the target in 20.2 overs. They scored 131 for 4 to register an easy victory by 6 wickets.

Brief scores: Chaman Lal XI 127 for 9 in 25 overs (Pankaj 37, Puneet Garg 31, Rahul 10, Jashanpreet 3 for 28, Mohit 2 for 21, Bharat Malhotra 1 for 18).

Tony Mahajan XI 131 for 4 in 20.2 overs (Bharat Malhotra 16, Parveen 28, Arjun Puri 48 n.o., Amit 1 for 20 and Mukul Gupta 1 for 34).

In the second match, Satish Mangal XI posted a challenging total of 171 for 5 in the stipulated 25 overs. Yogesh top scored with 67 runs, followed by Sarang Vaid and Gurashish Khurana who chipped in with 31 and 27 runs, respectively.

In reply, with the help of strokeful innings from Chinton Sehgal (98) and Gaurav Dawar (51 no.), Lokesh Khanna XI raced to an easy 9-wicket win. They made 174 for 1 with two overs to spare.

Brief scores: Satish Mangal XI 171 for 5 in 25 overs (Sarang Vaid 31, Yogesh 67, Sushyant Kohli 17, Gurashish Khurana 27, Puneet 1 for 23, Gagandeep Dhand 2 for 33 and Nakul Sharma 1 for 17).

Lokesh Khanna XI 174 for 1 in 23 overs (Chinton Sehgal 98, Gaurav Dawar 51 n.o., Sarvjeet Singh 1 for 5).
