PAU union members meet VC

Representatives of the Punjab Agricultural University Employees Union held a meeting with the Vice- Chancellor here today. They discussed various long-standing demands of the employees. Mr D.P.Maur and Mr Amritpal, president and general secretary of the union, respectively, said the agenda included 43 items. The agenda consisting three categories of demands including special allowances to Senior Assistants and Stenography cadre on Secretariat pattern, revision of pay-scales of Technical Assistants/ investigators/ demonstrators and artists, inclusion of left over promotion policy, interest payment on 50 per cent of the arrears due to revision of pay scale with
effect from January 1,1996, inclusion of farm workers in G-4 pattern, issuing of orders of placement of ASIs/HSIs/Laboratory Attendants etc into higher scale, implementation of employees welfare fund, opening of a canteen near Thapar Hall, speeding up the repair works of residential quarters, benefits to sports staff for their extra duties, line of promotion for telephone operators, benefits for bus cleaners and treatment of PAU employees at DMCH at PGI rates, was put up in the meeting. Mr Amrit Pal said that the second part of the agenda included special allowances to jeep/car/bus and tractor drivers at double the rate, implementation of G-4 pattern on tractor drivers, incentive increments, upgradation of laboratory attendants in 2:1, fresh option for getting 8.2.78 increments, reimbursement of salary on first working day of every month, investment of about Rs 22
crore of provident fund due to Punjab Government, rationalisation of average consumption of POL by PAU vehicles, creation of posts of laboratory supervisors/superintendents, nomination of non-teaching employees of board of management, reservation of seats for wards of PAU employees in PAU school, reduction in typing speed for clerks, 5 per cent additional house rent to the staff members working in field and the decision of BoM regarding the retirement of employees after 25 years of service/50 years of age. Mr Amritpal further said positive decisions had been taken on almost all items during the meeting.
