Rural Sports Fest at Budhewal

Ludhiana, February 20
The 50th Rural Sports Festival will be held at Budhewal village, near here, from February 21 to 23. According to Mr Balwant Singh Gill, president of the Sports Club Budhewal, which is organising the event, the festival was being organised in association with Gram Panchayat, Budhewal.

The main features of the festival would be kabaddi (open), kabaddi (62 kg), volleyball shooting (one village), bullock-cart race, football and tug of war. The winner in the bullock-cart race will be given a motor cycle.

Mr Gurcharan Singh Ghalib, MP, Mr Jagmohan Singh Kang and Mr Tej Parkash Singh, both ministers, Mr Mahal Singh Bhullar, DGP, Punjab, Mr Chander Shekhar, IG (Border Range), Amritsar, and Mr J.P.Virdi, IG, will attend the concluding function on February 23. Punjabi singer Jazzy Bains will enthrall the audience on Sunday, Mr Gill informed.

Annual athletics meet: The 42nd annual athletics meet of Khalsa College for Women here will be held on February 21 and 22. According to Dr Varinder Kaur Thind, the Principal of the college, around 400 participants are expected to take part in the meet during which competition in various track and field events will be held.
