Punjab Technical University’s distance education courses are proving to be remunerative for enrolled student. Not many students are aware that PTU offers various courses in fashion technology and hotel management and tourism both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
An exhibition-cum-sale was organised by the students of B.Sc and M.Sc (fashion technology) at Ivanna Institute, Surya Kiran Complex, Rakh Bagh, Ludhiana in this regard. More than 150 students are studying these courses. This was stated by Ms Manmeet Sodhia, director of the show.
The exhibition was organised by the students of Fashion Technology, Textile Designing and Home Management Departments of Ivanna Institute. The students had displayed various items prepared by them, which included garments, linen , home accessories, household articles, paintings , gift items.
Richa , one of the students, said, “I’m thrilled to have earned Rs 650. I will buy a gift for my parents.”
Seeing the response to the exhibition Ivanna Institute has decided to give a permanent platform to students in the shape of a shop, which will be operational throughout the year. Students can create paintings, accessories, garments, linens, gift items, etc. and would be able to sell their products from the shop. This shop will be based at the institute and will also organise exhibition-cum-sales from time to time.
