Exhibition thrills students

Punjab Technical University’s distance education courses are proving to be remunerative for enrolled student. Not many students are aware that PTU offers various courses in fashion technology and hotel management and tourism both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

An exhibition-cum-sale was organised by the students of B.Sc and M.Sc (fashion technology) at Ivanna Institute, Surya Kiran Complex, Rakh Bagh, Ludhiana in this regard. More than 150 students are studying these courses. This was stated by Ms Manmeet Sodhia, director of the show.

The exhibition was organised by the students of Fashion Technology, Textile Designing and Home Management Departments of Ivanna Institute. The students had displayed various items prepared by them, which included garments, linen , home accessories, household articles, paintings , gift items.

Richa , one of the students, said, “I’m thrilled to have earned Rs 650. I will buy a gift for my parents.”

Seeing the response to the exhibition Ivanna Institute has decided to give a permanent platform to students in the shape of a shop, which will be operational throughout the year. Students can create paintings, accessories, garments, linens, gift items, etc. and would be able to sell their products from the shop. This shop will be based at the institute and will also organise exhibition-cum-sales from time to time.



Neha tops in BA I in city

The toppers in the city of BA Part I examination are Neha Jindal of Government College for Women. She notches the first position by scoring 670 marks. The second position was bagged by Jasleen Kaur (659) of Guru Nanak Girls College. Model Town.Mansi of GCW was at third position with 648 marks.

The college-wise results are as follows:

Arya College, Girls: Lipsi Malhotrs 620, Bindu Makehja 611 marks.

Ramgarhia Girls College: Ravinder Kaur 622, Geetu Bajwa 610, Saurav 607 marks

Khalsa College for Women: Sargam Thind 612, Gauri Sharma 610, Neha Sharma 603 marks.

Master Tara Singh College: Rachna Joshi 608, Kulji Kaur 604, Rachna 603 marks

Guru Nanak Girls College: Jasleen Kaur 650, Sinder Pal Kaur 616, Manveen Benipal 600 marks.



BJSDC students excel in BDS

Ludhiana, July 2
Students of Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College and Hospital (BJSDC), Ludhiana, have excelled in BDS final examination conducted by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, this year by securing third, eighth and ninth ranks in Punjab with distinction in three subjects.

Roopam stood third by securing 968 marks with distinction in two subjects — operative and oral medicine and radiology. Rajbir Kaur got eighth rank with 936 marks and Harshdeep Kaur Sooch got ninth rank with 935 marks and distinction in one subject — operative.

Chairman Baba Jaswant Singh and Principal Dr Rana V.K. congratulated the students and teachers.
