Mohsina Kidwai may join Cabinet
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, July 9
The choice of the Rajya Sabha Deputy chairperson, the proposed Cabinet expansion and the election of Congress Parliamentary Party office bearers are all part of larger exercise on restructuring of the AICC being planned by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The changes could be announced any day.

For instance, if Mrs Mohsina Kidwai is not the Congress candidate for RS deputy chairperson, she would be accommodated in the Cabinet, which may be expanded when Parliament goes in for a recess from July 23 to August 15. Others who could get ministerial berths include Satish Sharma, R.K. Dhawan and Giridhar Gomang.

If Mr Dhawan and Mrs. Kidwai, who are at present AICC general secretaries move to the government, it will result in more vacancies in the party organisation.

It is being speculated that Mr Salman Khursheed, former chief ministers Digvijay Singh and Ashok Gehlot along with Rajya Sabha MP B.K. Hari Prasad may be appointed AICC general secretaries.
