Competitions mark World Population Day

Jagraon, July 12
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Jagraon (Ludhiana), organised competitions in essay writing, painting, singing, quiz and declamation to mark World Population Day yesterday.

Thirtyfour students of six senior secondary schools participated. In essay writing Amanpreet Kaur and Manjot Kaur of Sikh Girls Senior Secondary School and Ms Parwinder Kaur of Government Girls Senior Secondary School bagged first, second and third positions, respectively. Mrs Shinderpal Kaur of Sikh Girls School, Harpreet Singh and Iqbal Singh of Government Boys School won first, second and third positions, respectively in the on the spot painting competition. In singing Manpreet Kaur of Government Girls School, Ms Manjot Kaur of Sikh Girls and Jasdeep Singh of Government Boys School got first, second and third places, respectively.

In the quiz competition teams of Government Boys School, Sikh Girls School and Government Girls School came first, second, respectively. In declamation Shifali of Lajpat Rai School, Manjot of Sikh Girls School and Amita of Government Girls School bagged first, second and third positions, respectively. Mrs Usha Sidhu, Principal, DIET, gave away prizes to the winners.
