Dr S.K. Sondhi, Professor and Head of the Department of Soil and Water Engineering has been appointed as the Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering at a meeting of the management board, PAU, held under the chairmanship of Dr Kirpal Singh Aulakh, Vice-Chancellor of PAU.

Welcoming the new members of the board Dr P.K. Verma, Finance Commissioner (Development), Punjab, Dr Savinder Singh, Director, Animal Husbandry, Punjab and a leading farmer Mr Sant Singh Brar, Dr Aulakh said the new members would play an important role in meeting the challenges faced by Punjab these days.

Dr Sarjit Singh Gill has been appointed as Additional Director of Extension Education in the Directorate of Extension Education. Besides being the Head of the Department of Extension Education and Additional Director (Communication) Centre for Communication, Languages and Culture, Dr Gill is well known in the field of extension education. The PAU management board also thanked the Punjab Government for releasing the balance of provident fund amounting to Rs 24.81 crore.

The members of the board appreciated the efforts of Dr Aulakh in getting this amount released. Dr Harpal Singh Sandhu has been appointed as Head, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, for the next four years. Dr Yograj Chanana has been appointed as Head, Department of Horticulture, till his retirement. Likewise Dr S.P.S. Sandhu has been appointed as Head, Department of Bio-Chemistry.

Stating this Dr V.K. Sharma, Registrar, PAU, said the management board, accepting the decision of academic council, said people could construct a building in the PAU in the memory of their ancestors by donating Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh for the outer stations of the PAU. Dr Sharma said the board had decided not to charge summer break expenditure from the students of the 2003-2004 session.

Dr Sharma added that besides bills of the experts from outside, leave encashment and contingency, the bills relating to the balance of the pay will be post-audited.
