Fine batting by Salil Kaushal (108 n.o.) and skipper Sunil Sharma (65) helped MC XI to emerge victorious by 19 runs against Sood XI in the ongoing cricket tournament being played at the Satish Chander Dhawan Government College for Boys here today.
Batting first, MC XI hoisted a challenging total of 244 runs for the loss of six wickets in their quota of 35 overs. Skipper Sunil Sharma led from the front chipping in with 65 runs. Salil Kaushal remained unconquered on 108 runs. Salil and Sunil shared a 112-run partnership for the second wicket. Then Salil figured in another useful partnership. Salil and Harmit Batra (37) added 70 runs for the fourth wicket.
Ashok Sood of Sood XI was the lone successful bowler claiming two wickets conceding 33 runs.
Sood XI fought valiantly to achieve the target. Sumit and Deepak contributed 62 and 48 runs, respectively, while Vicky made 21. Laddi contributed 19 runs. However, Sood XI failed to surpass the total as they finished at 225 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after the allotted 35 overs, thus falling short of the target by 18 runs.
For MC XI, Raju and Pappu Thaman shared the spoils capturing three wickets each for 33 and 31 runs, respectively.
