UP BJP shows door to five MLAs
Tribune news Service

Lucknow, August 5
It was only after BJP president Venkaiah Naidu’s intervention that a beleaguered state unit gathered enough courage to show the door to five rebel MLAs seven days after the show-cause notice period expired on July 28.

State BJP chief Keshari Nath Tripathi admitted that he had been directed not to tolerate any indiscipline and sack the MLAs indulging in anti-party activities. These ‘rebel’ MLAs are Mr Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Mr Narendra Verma, Mr Anil Verma, Mr Daya Shankar and Mr Kovid Kumar Singh.

The BJP Legislature Party which met late yesterday, decided to file a petition with the Vidhan Sabha Speaker for terminating the membership of these MLAs.

They had been issued show-cause notices for sitting on the Treasury Benches during the current monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha. Challenging the show-cause notices these MLAs had demanded the suspension of Mr Tandon for being the architect of the BJP-BSP alliance that led to the rout of the party in the state.
