Businessmen don soccer jerseys

Ludhiana, August 22
To promote soccer in the region, an exhibition match involving businessmen from Jalandhar and Ludhiana was held at the Guru Nanak Stadium here on Saturday.
The teams had businessmen from Ludhiana, Jalandhar, besides some soccer enthusiasts from England. The venue of the match, where a number of national football league matches had been conducted over the past couple of years, was again buzz with activities as the soccer fans were engaged in a tussle to generate interest among the people about the game.

Jassie Bhogal from the UK led the Ludhiana team against the Jalandhar team, which was led by S.S. Lally of Prestige Honda Motors. Bobby Johl, Rinku, Akash Bansal, Manik Rekhi and Satkarn Khera were other prominent participants from Ludhiana, while the Jalandhar team had Sukhi Mann, Sonu Pawar, Simrandeep Gill, Ripu Lally, Jugraj and Lovely in their ranks.

Jalandhar beat Ludhiana 3-1 to establish 1-0 lead in the series. Skipper, Lally, and Ronny played well for the winners. The next match will be played at Jalandhar towards this week-end.
