Vying for the crown Veggies Go on a
Beauty Parade
Among the veggies in the kitchen garden, Hariyali, are Liddy, the ladyfinger, Leafy, the cabbage, Bingy, the big brinjal, Teekhi, the green chilli, and the self-assured Roly-poly Podgy, the potato whose weight is her last concern. Each veggie nurtures the desire to be the beauty queen even as they envy one another’s curves and features. The ruddy cheeks of Carrie the carrot and the long slim legs of the lotus stem cause much heart-burning. The crown, however, goes to a "new" vegetable that all the others had never seen!
