10-day NSS camp concludes
Mohali, January 1 The function was presided over by Dr B.S. Mann, Programme Coordinator, NSS, Punjabi University, Patiala. Ms Madhu Bala, Youth Officer, Government of India, was the guest of honour. The duo gave away certificates of appreciation and mementoes among the 92 volunteers who attended the camp. Narinder Singh, Iqbal Singh, Mandeep Kaur, Sukhdeep Singh, Kamaldeep Kaur, Rita Rani were declared the best campers. Sukhvinder Kaur, Naresh Kumar, Harinder Hera, Sukhdev, Nancy were declared the best singers. The volunteers had undertaken a cleanliness, ground levelling, industrial survey of over 750 industrial units, socio-economic survey of Shastri Colony and Paraplegic Home of Mohali, during the camp. Principal Mandeep Kaur highlighted the concept of social service on the basis of Gurbani. Mr Narinder Singh, Iqbal Singh and Mandeep Kaur were the camp commanders. Prof Shashi Kant, Dr Baldev Singh Gill, Prof Ranjit Kaur had organised the camp. |
Korean school team visits Mount View school
Zirakpur, January 1 The delegation, which is here on an educational exchange programme on the invitation of Paragon Senior Secondary School, Mohali, offered an exchange programme to students and teachers of the Mount View school. Fun and frolic marked the visit with the delegation enjoying the hospitality extended by the school despite the language barrier, the chairman of the school, Maj Gurcharan Singh (retd), said in a press note here today. |
Workshop on rehabilitation education today
Chandigarh, January 1 The workshop will be organised by the Indian Portage Association in collaboration with the Department of Adult Education, PU. Participants of the workshops will be special education teachers/trainees, clinical psychologists, counsellors and researchers in the field of special education for the challenged as well as the regular schools who want to implement community-based programmes. |
NSS volunteers take out rally
Chandigarh, January 1 The volunteers holding placards and raised slogans paned through various places in the town. In the evening, a seminar on water conservation was organised during which Aarti, Rita, Neeraj, Ranjana Preeti and Kulwinder presented their views. |
