Doctors’ confluence at IMA Complex

More than 150 leading doctors of the region attended the Continued Medical Education (CME) seminar, which was held at the IMA Complex, Sector 35, Chandigarh.

Fortis Hospital doctors, Dr Mohan Nair and Dr A.S. Bawa, Dr K.M. Kapoor, addressed the members of Indian Medical Association, Chandigarh branch. Prof K.K. Talwar, Director, PGI, was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nair said, “Worldwide, electrophysiology is the fastest growing of all cardiovascular disciplines and the reason for this is not difficult to find. By conducting an electrophysiology study, it is very easy to determine which part of the heart suffers from arrhythmia. The procedure is very simple and typically lasts between one and two hours”.

This session was followed by Dr A. S. Bawa addressing the audience on the topic, “stress urinary incontinence management”.

The final session was conducted by Dr K.M. Kapoor, who spoke on the topic of current trends in cosmetic surgery. He said, “The cosmetic surgery procedure which is becoming the most popular in young women is breast augmentation with silicon breast implants. He said the latest cohesive gel breast implants provide a very natural and proportionate looking breast.

Shika Ghai of Punjab beat Shailja Gautam of Tamilnadu 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 in the pre quarterfinals of women’s singles in the 5th All India Table Tennis Tournament 2005-06 at Table Tennis hall, Sector 23, here today.

In the quarterfinals of men’s singles, Punjab’s Janak Raj got the better of Y.S. Chowhan of Madhya Pradesh 11-4, 11-6, 11-3.
