Teachers held for raping minor
Our Correspondent

Abohar, February 21
Jagdev Singh and Kewal Singh, teachers of a private school in Khat Sajwar village near Sadulshehar, 31 km from here, have been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl student, SHO Sarwar Ali confirmed today.

The teachers allegedly abducted the 13-years-old girl, studying in class VIII, after school on Saturday. The parents, living below the poverty line, lodged a complaint with the local police in the evening under Section 363/366 IPC.

A police party later nabbed Kewal Singh from a farm house located on the outskirts of Sadulshehar. Another police party got the girl released following a raid carried in the Purani Abadi locality at Sriganganagar, neighbouring this sub division on Sunday and nabbed Jagdev Singh Bawri.

The police added Section 376/120 B to the FIR on getting the medical examination report that reportedly confirmed that the girl had been raped, sources added.

The police control room, Sriganganagar said efforts had been intensified to nab Mahadev, Mahender and Subhash Chander named by Ms Sharbati Devi, wife of Mr Raja Ram, resident of Bhojewala village for allegedly abducting her minor daughter. A case had been registered at the Raziasar police station under Section 363/366 IPC.

Meanwhile, the Sriganganagar police arrested Radhey Shyam, son of Mr Ram Singh, who had allegedly attempted to rape a 10-year-old girl yesterday. The mother said the girl was playing with some children in the neighborhood. The miscreant reportedly gave some coins to other children and asked them to buy toffees from a distant shop. As they left he allegedly dragged the minor girl to a room and bolted it from inside. After a few minutes, the mother returned home and heard cries of the girl. Many other women rushed in for help but the miscreant did not open the door. This prompted the women to call in the police and nab Radhey Shyam.
