Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: The maximum temperatures rose in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and change little elsewhere.

Departure: They were above normal in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, below normal in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The highest temperature in the region was 34.4C recorded at Barmer (Rajasthan).

Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures rose in Jammu and Kashmir and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: They were above normal in west Rajasthan, appreciably below normal in east Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 11.0C recorded at Amritsar (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of March 21, 2006: Rain/snow is likely at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of March 21, 2006: Partly cloudy sky. Mist in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 30C and 14C respectively.
