Govt likely to set up 6th pay panel

New Delhi, June 13
The government is likely to set up the sixth pay commission by next month to revise wages of its employees, five months after the announcement by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

After announcing 27 reservation for OBCs in higher educational institutions funded by the Centre, this is considered as a major political move to please the employees and trade unions.

45 killed as truck falls into gorge

Dehradun, June 13
Forty-five people were killed and 17 injured when the truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Bhikiasein in Uttaranchal’s Almora district today, police said.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known. The truck was carrying a large group of people from Vasaut to a nearby village in the Manila area for a marriage when the mishap occurred, they said. — PTI
