Alpine girls win TT title

Ludhiana, September 3
Girls of the Alpine International Senior Secondary School, Ferozepore road, gave a stupendous performance and emerged champions in the u-19 years section of the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex Table Tennis Tournament held at Green Land Senior Secondary School campus here yesterday.

Alpine International School paddlers survived a scare before emerging victorious 3-2 against their spirited opponents-GPS School, Gobindgarh.

Maninder won her match against Ekjot 3-0 while Smriti, after losing to Harleen 0-3, bounced back to rattle Prabhleen. Similarly, Shruti wrapped up the first match against Prabhleen comfortably 3-0, but went down fighting Harleen.

In the girls final ( u-17), Alpine International School waged a spirited battle against hosts Green Land School but failed to match up to their rivals and lost the title clash 1-3 to content with the runners-up trophy.

Boys from this school bagged the third position in the u-19 years section. In the match to decide the hardline cup, they pipped BCM School, Shastri Nagar 3-2.

Ms Rajeshwari Dhir, principal of Alpine International School, lauded the students' performance during this tournament in which players from 17 CBSE schools of Ludhiana district took part.

She congratulated the paddlers and their coach Mr Jaspal singh for bringing glory to the school.
