Rhyme Time

My Indian idol

Shri Abdul Kalam is the President of our nation,

He was born in the island town of Rameswaram,

His father Jainulabdeen was an intelligent man,

And mother Ashiamma a loving and kind woman,

In school he studied well and had great fun,

Had friends Ramanadha, Sivaprakasan and Aravindan.

Though he lived in Tamil Naduís Hindu holy town,

There was no Muslim on whom people would frown,

Ahmed Jalaluddin was his friend,

To whose useful advice Kalam had his ears lend,

When Abdul Kalam was just eight years of age,

He was proud to earn his first daily wage,

Kalam learnt Ramayana and Koran equally well,

And believed that good deeds save us from Hell,

After school, Ramanathapuram was his next destination,

Where he studied with great zeal and determination,

His sister sacrificed for him her precious jewels,

To enable him to study engineering and progress well,

In Abdul Kalam we have a great scientist,

Who is hard working and a great perfectionist,

It was with his hard work and Godís grace,

That SLV-III was launched first time in space,

He believes that nuclear power should be used for peace,

So that in this universe, all world wars would cease,

As a teacher, he has ignited young minds.
